Targeting functionalised carbon nanotubes at the interphase of Textile Reinforced Mortar (TRM) composites

Tensile performance of textile reinforced inorganic matrix composites strongly depends on the matrix-to-fabric bond strength, that is weak chain in system. In this work, we investigate role multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) dispersion an amorphous silica nano-coating for AR-glass and fabric Textile Reinforced Mortar (TRM) composites. Two lime mortars are considered at 56-day curing. Comparative mechanical testing uni-axial tension show remarkable enhancements terms mean ductility, strength energy dissipation capabilities. Besides, coating successfully hinders telescopic failure delamination, which significantly narrows data scattering benefits design limits. Crack pattern analysis reveals promotes diffuse cracking specimen, with gradual progressive damage buildup. Indeed, crack width spacing consistently reduced. BET, optical E-SEM microscopy supports action mechanism coating, wettability, surface roughening imparts a increase specific area reinforcement.
